Camellia Park in Locarno

Last week I packed my camera, tripod and good mood into a backpack and went on a one day trip to Locarno in Canton Ticino. Why Locarno? In order to visit the biggest in Europe camellia park, called Parco delle Camelie.

When to visit Parco delle Camelie?

Roughly between the end of March and the beginning of April. This year Camellia Exhibition took palace from 27.03.2019 to 31.03.2019. I, however, visited the Camellia Park couple days later in order to catch flower buds falling on a grass. So I think it is good to keep in mind that depending on a blossom state of camellias you might want to go to Locarno couple of days before or after the official exhibition. For updated future dates I would suggest checking out an official website for Canton Ticino or My

How to get there?

By walking from Locarno train station. It is about 25 minutes walk, mostly by the shore of the magical Lake Maggiore. If you have time I would recommend taking a boat cruise for unforgettable views.

Photo tips for the perfect gram

In the whole Park there are plenty of adorable corners to take pictures. Besides the obvious pics of flowers, it is a great place for fairytale-like travel and outfit grams. For #ootd shots I would suggest avoiding dressing in floral prints, just because you would not get that flower overload effect. If your feed is red, pink or green themed, then you do not have to bring any props – the color of flowers will perfectly match. For other color palettes I would recommend adding a scarf, a headband or a belt that is cohesive with your feed and style.

This place is also great if you are a beauty blogger and you want to create some dreamy content for camellia infused products like face oils, sheet masks etc. Tsubaki is a quite a popular ingredient in Japanese skincare, so if you are advertising j-beauty products, this place would be perfect for you. Also any skincare or makeup products in pink packaging like Glossier or Herbivore would photograph here really well.

As for the perfume photography goes my choice was the limited edition red bottled Chanel no 5 l’eau, because I knew that I can put a bottle into a pond (l’eau stands for water in french) with floating flowers. And we all know that camellia is a big part of Chanel branding and history so it was a perfect way to match it with this park. Another great idea would be La Dame aux Camélias by Maison Jardins d’écrivains. But honestly any rosey scented perfume would work just fine!
