Perfumes in films,

Most-loved perfume references in films part 1

It is not a secret that I love to play a perfume spy each time I watch a film. Over the years I managed to create quite an impressively long MS Word document with every perfume quote I spotted. Of course my all time favorite reference always be the L’air du Temps in The Silence of the Lambs scene. But still I would like to share more of my of findings. This time about some classic creations like Chanel no 5, Shalimar and Arpège.

My week with Marilyn (2011)

A clever spin on the famous Marilyn Monroe Chanel no 5. quote. Always makes me laugh.

Throughout the whole show we can witness Peggy’s (Elisabeth Moss) evolution from shy and quiet secretary to a modern successful copywriter and business woman. Her character is career oriented and often juxtapositioned with Joan – a elegant and sexy office manager. Usually Peggy is almost considered being a men by her male co-workers, because she has to act like one in order to pursue her dreams. That is why, when in 13th episode of 6th season she leaves the office early in order to go on a date, it is quite a surprise.

Working Girl (1988)

Katharine Parker (Sigourney Weaver) gets ready for an evening and says ‘He loves Shalimar’. And then apply a hefty amount of it.

A Single Man (2009)

Just. Watch. It. And then the whole film if you haven’t already. Really beautiful.

What about you? What is yours favorite perfume reference in the movies?

Love, Kasia xx
